How do I rent a porta potty?
Send a request with your address, dates, number of users, unit types and placement notes. We pass it to an independent sanitation provider in our network who serves your area. They confirm details and pricing, deliver the units, service them on a schedule and pick them up when you are done. Terms and availability vary by provider and location.

Who does what
Haul & Hygiene is a nationwide coordination network, not a sanitation company. We do not own units or trucks. When you send a request, we route it to independent local providers who serve your area. The provider you book with owns the equipment, handles delivery, servicing and pickup, sets the price and issues the rental agreement.
That arrangement means you get a local operator who knows the area, without having to call around to find one. Read more on our how we work page.
The rental process, step by step
Most rentals follow the same path, whether it is one unit for a remodel or dozens for a festival.
- Plan your needs
Estimate users, hours and duration. Use our quantity guide to decide how many and which types of units you need.
- Send a request
Share the address, dates, unit types, user count, placement notes and any special needs like accessible units or hand washing.
- Get matched
We route your request to an independent provider in our network that serves your location.
- Confirm the quote
The provider confirms availability, pricing, service schedule and terms. Review the agreement before you accept.
- Prepare the site
Clear and mark the placement spot, confirm truck access and secure any permits needed for public property.
- Delivery
The provider delivers and places units, stocked and ready to use.
- Servicing
On longer rentals, technicians pump, clean and restock units on the agreed schedule.
- Pickup
When your rental ends, the provider removes the units and disposes of waste at a permitted facility.
What to include in your request
The more complete your request, the faster and more accurate the quote. Providers need to know exactly what they are bringing and where it goes.
- Full address and where on the property units should go
- Delivery and pickup dates, plus any time windows
- Number of people and hours of use per day
- Unit types: standard, deluxe, ADA, hand washing, trailer
- Whether food or alcohol will be served at events
- Ground surface and any access limits like gates or low branches
- An on-site contact name and phone number
Delivery day
The provider delivers on the agreed date, usually within a time window. You often do not need to be present if the spot is clearly marked and accessible. The driver will place units on level ground, check that doors open and latch, and confirm the units are stocked. If the planned spot will not work, for example because of soft ground or a blocked path, the driver may call your on-site contact to agree on an alternative.
For events, delivery is often a day early so units are in place before vendors arrive. On jobsites, units usually arrive before the crew starts work.
During the rental
For rentals longer than a few days, service visits keep units clean and usable. A technician pumps the tank, cleans and sanitizes surfaces, recharges deodorizer and restocks paper and sanitizer. Weekly service is typical for jobsites; events may need service during the event. See portable toilet maintenance for details.
If something goes wrong, such as a tipped unit, damage or heavier use than expected, contact the provider directly. They can add a visit, swap a unit or add more units.
Pickup and wrap-up
At the end of the rental, the provider returns to pump and remove units. Keep the access path clear on pickup day, just as you did for delivery. Waste is taken to a permitted treatment facility; it is never dumped on site. If you need to extend the rental, ask before the scheduled pickup so the provider can adjust their route. Billing and final charges are handled by the provider under your agreement.
Before the truck arrives, remove any trash, decorations or signage you attached to the units, and let the provider know about any damage you noticed during the rental. Reporting it up front avoids disputes later. If you expect to need units again, such as for an annual event or the next phase of a project, mention it at pickup so the provider can note your setup and make the next booking easier.

How It Works FAQs
Do I pay Haul & Hygiene or the provider?
You book with and pay the independent provider under their rental agreement. We coordinate the match.
How long does it take to get a quote?
It depends on the provider and how complete your request is. A detailed request usually gets a faster, more accurate answer.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
Usually not, if the spot is marked and accessible. Provide an on-site contact in case the driver has questions.
Can I extend my rental?
Usually yes. Contact the provider before the scheduled pickup so they can update the schedule.
What happens to the waste?
Providers pump waste into their service trucks and take it to permitted treatment facilities for disposal.
