About service in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids is the seat of Kent County and the largest city in West Michigan, built along both banks of the Grand River about thirty miles inland from Lake Michigan. It earned the nickname "Furniture City" for its long history of furniture making, and office furniture, health care, manufacturing and food processing still anchor the local economy. The Medical Mile along Michigan Street and a steady stream of downtown and riverfront projects have kept construction busy.

The city's neighborhoods give rentals their local character. Heritage Hill, one of the larger urban historic districts in the country, is filled with large Victorian and early twentieth-century homes, while Eastown, East Hills, Creston and the West Side have older houses on modest lots. Suburbs such as Kentwood, Wyoming, Walker, Grandville, Hudsonville and Rockford add newer subdivisions and plenty of mid-century ranches.

Weather is a constant consideration. Grand Rapids sits in a lake-effect snow area, so winter deliveries often follow plowing, and snowbanks can narrow driveways for weeks. Spring thaw softens yards and gravel drives. Summer and fall are lively, with the Festival of the Arts downtown in June and ArtPrize drawing crowds to galleries and public spaces.

Haul & Hygiene does not have a Grand Rapids office, yard or trucks. We coordinate with independent haulers and sanitation providers serving Kent County, and their equipment and terms vary. See Grand Rapids dumpster rental, Grand Rapids porta potty rental, or other Michigan locations.
