About service in Louisville

Louisville is Kentucky's largest city, and since the city and Jefferson County merged their governments, most of the county is served by Louisville Metro Government. A handful of small incorporated cities, such as St. Matthews, Jeffersontown and Shively, still sit inside the county with their own city halls, which is worth knowing when you check placement rules.

The city grew up at the Falls of the Ohio, the only major natural obstacle on the Ohio River, and the riverfront is protected by a floodwall system. Across the bridges lie the Indiana cities of Jeffersonville and New Albany. Louisville's economy runs on logistics, manufacturing and healthcare: the UPS Worldport air hub, Ford's assembly plants and GE Appliance Park are major employers, along with hospital systems and the bourbon industry.

Housing is a big part of the local story. Old Louisville has one of the largest collections of Victorian homes in the country, and the Highlands, Crescent Hill, Clifton, Germantown and Butchertown are full of older brick and frame homes, including the narrow shotgun houses the city is known for. Those houses mean lots of renovation, plaster removal and porch and roof work. Newer subdivisions spread east and south toward Middletown, Fern Creek and beyond.

Spring is the busiest season, with the Kentucky Derby and its festival in late April and early May.

Haul & Hygiene does not run a Louisville office, yard or fleet. We coordinate with independent providers in the metro. See Louisville dumpster rental, Louisville porta potty rental or other Kentucky locations.
